Oxford Street is now traffic-free

Since 26 October 2026, traffic has been banned along almost a kilometre of Oxford Street, from Orchard Street to Great Portland Street. The pedestrian zone begins at Orchard Street, besides Selfridges, a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.

Buses and taxis now use nearby roads. New seating, trees, and clearer signage are planned as the scheme settles in, and a transitional design is due by spring 2027. For our guests, it means a calmer, more spacious stroll between flagship stores, no matter what the season.

Oxford Street this season

Each winter, more than 5,000 white stars light up Oxford Street. The 2026 switch-on date is yet to be announced, but this years’ display adds Harry Potter-themed designs. They mark the opening of the UK’s largest Harry Potter shop on 4 November 2026, at 134-140 Oxford Street near Tottenham Court Road.

The welcome was warm and the staff throughout the hotel were genuinely kind and helpful… the staff were so attentive that after just one morning they already recognised us.

A special mention to Henry at reception, who was absolutely amazing so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. His lovely personality made the stay even more special and added such a warm touch to the whole experience.

I would also like to thank the entire hotel team for making my stay unforgettable. Every staff member I encountered was welcoming, courteous, and committed to providing outstanding service.
